TOP Server Universal Device Driver (UDD)

The initial release of the Universal Device Driver (UDD) in TOP Server V6.10 provides an alternative option to the long available User-Configurable Driver (UCON) for situations where a more flexible development framework is needed utilizing modern scripting technology.

The UDD supports solicited communications (command/response) over TCP/IP for creation of custom user-defined driver profiles to manufacturing devices where an existing off-the-shelf driver is unavailable.

Typical users who might need the UDD include:

  • System Integrators seeking to reduce engineering cost through creation of custom drivers in a more scalable, economical fashion than pure custom development.

  • Power users with technical skills including scripting abilities that need to connect solicited TCP devices that don't have an available off-the-shelf driver (such as Modbus).

If you have a project where the Universal Device Driver might be a good fit, please submit the form to the right (make sure to include as much details about the devices and/or protocols you need to implement) and one of our experts will get back to you as soon as possible.
